EP 175: The Chain of Positive Momentum

In episode 171 I challenged you to join me to create a chain of positive Momentum.

Here’s a quick review of what we talked about in that episode.

I have printed off a calendar that goes from December 2024 through November 2025 and I am committed to building a chain of days of doing something I want to get better at every day and not breaking that chain.  I am putting the calendar in my planner that I look at every day.

Here’s a few pointers to keeping that daily chain connected!

#1: You have to work on it daily.  Not breaking the chain means daily practice.  When you choose who you want to become, chose what daily action you will take to enjoy working towards that.  Don’t forget, this is something YOU chose that is important to you.

#2: Celebrate your wins.

Dr. Craig Manning gave this piece of advice on how to best celebrate what you’re accomplishing.

He encourages you to think every night about something you did well and something you can do better.

Really push your mind to go deep as you think about this.

What did you learn as you were practicing today?

You need these wins in your head, not just written in a notebook

It’s more than what you do, it must become a part of who you are.

#3: Be accountable to yourself

Be really deliberate about making the time to keep the chain going.

Time is your greatest asset and using your gift of agency to choose how you’re going to use it is a very powerful practice.

Ask yourself honestly, “What do you want to do with your life?” then, create the time you need to practice something daily that will get you there and enjoy the process while you are doing it.

This is really powerful stuff!

This can change how you view your time.

Stop telling yourself stories that keep you from reaching your goals.

Turn them into positive, additive thought patterns that get you where you want to be, that create WHO you want to become!

That changes everything in your life.

If you haven’t listened to Episode 171, Go listen and decide on what you’re going to practice every day.

What would you like to get better at?

You will feel successful only when you choose to compare your today to your yesterday, not by comparing who you are today to the future of what you want to become.

Motivation will come more easily when you only compare yourself to YOURSELF.

The chain that I’ve been working on is being creative daily.

There are so many areas that I enjoy that fall under the “being creative” umbrella.

I want to have more creativity in my life so that is the chain I have chosen.

I am committed to not breaking that chain.

It’s pretty simple…do something creative every day.

That’s what I’m suggesting that you do too.

Don’t set impossible goals based on what you see other people doing.

Choose something.  One simple thing that you want to become better at and start building a chain of positive momentum.

Decide today that you’ll do something to get better at that one thing every day.

Anything that I’m working on this year is based on my word of the year.  And my word of the year is Peace.

That’s what I want to feel more of in my life.

When I knew that, it made the long list of things I wanted to get better get shorter.

Only things that made me feel peace.

I chose creativity because that is what brings me peace and I haven’t allowed myself the time to do creative things much lately.

I wanted to invite more peace into my life through creativity.

What will your one thing be?

What do you want?

Who do you want to become?

My guess is that you feel embarrassed wanting what you want because that’s how I felt.

I want to become something that I just don’t know why or how.

I kinda thought it wasn’t something I could actually have.

I believed that it’s asking too much.

Why should I get to do THAT?

Then I started paying attention and talking to people, asking them what they want.

Everyone has different desires.

Because of the way Instagram and Facebook work, you get shown the things that you are looking for and then it shows you more and more of those things.

It made me start to think that everyone wants what I want because that’s what I was being shown.

Then I looked again, at real people this time.

We are all being drawn to different things.

Your desires are different than other people’s desires.

That makes you unique.

I believe that God can take what we want and make it into something even better when we allow Him to take part in our stories.

Don’t be embarrassed to want what you want.

Tell Him what you want.

Ask Him to help you develop into that and to make it a part of what He wants for you too.

I hope you know that I am rooting for you.

Being able to admit what you want is difficult.

It doesn’t seem like it should be but for those of us who have denied ourselves of what we want for so long, it’s truly difficult to connect to that again.

I hope you know that I can help you with this because I’m right there with you.

I’ve stretched myself into allowing myself to want what I want.

I have learned and practiced methods that can help you to find that too.

I’d love to work with you on this or anything else that feels too hard to do on your own.

That’s what a Coach does.

I listen.  I teach.  I support.  I encourage.  I keep you accountable to yourself.

I’d love to be your Coach.

Email me Marla@hunkeedori.com and we’ll get started together.
