Hey! I’m Marla and welcome to another episode of Overburdened No More. Today, we’re going to be chatting about these questions and my very favorite way to relieve the overburdened feelings I get on the regular.
In the last two episode’s we chatted about systems one and two in the Uniquee Connection Method, Connecting to your TIME and Connecting to your LIFE.
And just in case you didn’t listen to either of those episodes or quite understand what I mean by the Uniquee Connection Method, let’s review.
The Uniquee Connection Method is a three-part system that I developed through learning and trial and error as I was wanting to get going again after a really hard transition in my life.
We all have transitions in life, in fact they happen multiple times during our lives.
As I navigated through this specific transition, from depression and poor health, back into life as a “normal” person, I learned things that slowly built upon each other until I was using each of them daily.
I really felt like I was reconnecting with myself in a way that I hadn’t been able to in years…if ever.
I’ve used these systems ever since in other types of transitions as well and found that they worked there too.
These systems worked I so many different transitions that I soon learned that if I was consistent with them, I felt supported in everything that came my way.
My whole purpose in sharing what I’ve learned with you is that I want you to be able to move through whatever transitions you have, faster.
I don’t want you to have to test and try new things like I did to see if they help.
I’ve already done that and I’m so excited to share them with you in the hopes that you will feel progress faster and feel joy in the everyday of your life.
So, again, in previous episodes I told you a little bit about systems one and two.
Today, I want to continue that conversation and talk about the third system in the Uniquee Connection Method, which is Connecting to your SELF.
I have to admit that this third system is my favorite because i think it’s the one that has changed me the most.
The way that I connected to my SELF is through a method of journaling I like to call free-writing.
I can’t even explain to you the changes that have happened in my life just through the process of sitting down daily and writing whatever comes to my mind.
It has been the most eye opening, soul connecting, self-esteem building thing I have ever done.
It has even helped me to trust myself more.
It helps you to draw from past experiences, learning from them.
When I journal, the experiences I’ve had in the past come to my mind and help me work through what I’m going through right now.
Isn’t that cool? I know!!! It surprised me too.
I’ve always kept a journal but this is different. This isn’t writing down what I did during the day.
I can’t wait to help you to start using this method!
When I take a problem to my journal, what i’m really doing is taking the problem to myself.
I’m allowing myself to hear what I’m going through and I’m allowing myself to help.
I know what I need better than anyone else.
I know the language I understand.
I’m more patient with myself than anyone else is. Well, I’m learning to be more patient anyway.
When I try to talk to other people, no matter how much they love me, they usually get tired of listening because it takes me a while to work some things out.
When it’s something I’m really struggling with, it’s not a one and done kind of talk.
There are layers to work through.
I need to feel heard.
I need to feel like I’m not bothering anyone.
When I take the problem to myself in my journal, I never get tired of hearing myself.
In fact, it helps me to love myself more.
I can see who I am
I can see who I’m becoming and
I can see the good intentions I have.
I can just see myself clearer when I’m writing.
I can feel safe and understood and valued for what I think and feel.
Isn’t that what makes a good friend?
I’m always available for me. I don’t have to worry about taking up someone else’s time.
It’s just me with me.
I’ve made better friends with myself and that has been really valuable to my mental health as well.
I hope you can tell just how much I love journaling.
And even more important than that, I hope you can see how much it could benefit you in your life too.
So there you go, a very brief introduction to the third system in the Uniquee Connection Method.
There is so much to this practice.
