074: What’s Your Primary Emotion?

When we view our life as abundant, it feels different.

Our needs are met no matter what is going on around us.

Life feels easier.

You see beauty wherever you go.

And Gratitude becomes your primary emotion.

But how???

How do you begin to feel like your life is abundant and feeling gratitude above all else?

Can you even wrap your brain around that?

Gratitude being the emotion you feel FIRST.

What emotion would you say is your primary emotion right now?

When something happens, good, bad or somewhere in between, what is the emotion you feel most often?

How would you react to daily events if gratitude was your automatic response?

How would you look at others if gratitude was your first thought?

How would you view yourself if you felt more gratitude?

Let me ask you this…

Do you believe that you can choose how you want to feel?

Do you?

I didn’t ask if it was easy

Or natural,

I asked if you believe that you get to choose how you want to feel?

Imagine how your life would be different if you believed that you had a choice about the emotions you feel.

I believe we do.

I believe that this is the key when it comes to feeling overburdened no more.

This doesn’t mean that we will never feel the harder emotions.

Can you still choose to feel sad?  Yes

Can you still choose to feel angry? Of course

But the difference is… that you have the choice.

Let’s go back to the topic of this episode.

What is your primary emotion?

If you were to honestly evaluate the emotion you feel the most often…what would it be?

Here’s a list of emotions that are common:

Pay attention and see if something stands out to you as your most felt emotion


























Was there an emotion I listed that you realize you feel more than any other?

Maybe there was a few.

I think there’s definitely a few for me.

If we’re trying to get to where GRATITUDE becomes your primary emotion, I have a few more thoughts for you to consider.

We’ve all heard the saying:

There are Two sides to every story:

Sometimes we use that as a way to feel better about OUR side.

What if you allowed yourself to see BOTH sides, instead of holding so tightly to your side?

YOUR side may even be valid…but what good does it do to hang on to something if it brings YOU so much pain? 

What if you let go just a little, just enough to see the other side if the possibility to feel more peace was the result?

Could you find gratitude for where you are right now and how things work out in the end if you let yourself feel something different than your usual go-to emotion.

What if you chose gratitude?

Here’s another saying:

Give them the Benefit of the doubt: 

What if you chose to give someone the benefit of something you doubt about them? 

What if you just give it to them. 

If you don’t know for sure, just let them have this one. 

Again, the benefit is greater for you because it helps YOU to feel better. 

Yep.  Just let them have it.

And then chose to feel grateful that you don’t have to carry the burden of a disagreement around with you.

Becoming Overburdened No More doesn’t mean that everything is going to go your way and you will no longer have hard things to deal with.

What it does mean is that if you want to feel lighter, less burdened, you need to start CHOOSING how you want to feel and pay attention to how you allow yourself to think about people, events and circumstances.

There’s a lot of power in learning how to do this.

It’s takes practice.
