I plan to truly enjoy this year and create a new pattern that sets the stage for what the next phase of my life is going to be like.
It’s my 50th year.
That makes me 49.
My birthday is at the end of this week and I’m gearing up for my 50th year. I plan to truly enjoy this year and create a new pattern in my life that sets the stage for what the next phase of my life is going to be like.
I have been working on making a list of 50 things I want to do before I’m 50 and I want to share some of them with you in hopes that:
- They may inspire you to do things that scare you, push you, help you grow and make you excited to add more years to your life.
- You’ll share with me your ideas of what you’re doing. I want to hear and be inspired by you.
- It will help keep me accountable and not back out of some of them.
Here’s a part of my list:
Get out my “Real” camera and learn how to use it again
Learn to play a song on the Ukulele
Scrapbook a picture and thought about each day of my 50th year
Write a letter to 50 people who have influenced me for good or in any way.
Teach a class at a local craft store
Go on a date with my husband at least once a month that doesn’t center on food
See the Grand Canyon
Go on a Girls Trip
Try Hypnosis
Speak at a Conference
Make something with the green fabric I’ve had for 5 years
Paint the cabinets in my kitchen
Create patterns to sell in my Etsy shop
Run in a 5k
Hire an employee
Say “yes’ to something that scares me
Make a new friend
Create an online program all about Connection
That’s All For Now
Obviously, that’s not all 50 but that’s what I’m sharing with you today.
As I go through November 2020-November 2021 I hope to continue sharing my progress and even my failures through it all. I’ll be updating you on my Instagram account @hunkeedori and in my Hunkeedori Facebook group. Watch for those posts every Thursday and please, keep cheering me on!
Let’s Be Honest With Each Other
Look. I have big dreams. Big goals. Big hopes.
I’m not a Pollyanna that thinks everything is going to work out exactly as I want it to. BUT… I’m also not going down without at least trying to meet every single goal.
The honest truth is that I feel like I have had to walk through mud with cement shoes on to achieve pretty much anything in the past. I am trying my hardest to shed that belief and learn a new way.
I can do hard things. I am strong, physically and mentally. I have courage. I am supported.
I believe you are too.
I believe that life is meant to be enjoyable and not always so hard.
I plan to truly enjoy this year and create a new pattern in my life that sets the stage for what the next phase of my life is going to be like.
Who’s with me?! Tag me in your posts @hunkeedori! And don’t forget to check in with me every Thursday!!!
Well I am 70 years old and I take it easy. My husband died last year and have had to do what he took care of. He was a banker and charge of everything and now I am doing it.
I need a schedule so that’s why I ordered planners and inserts. I also want to watercolor one page and journal the next page.
I would like to get ideas to get my life in order. Suggestions welcome!
Happy birthday to you!! I’ll be turning 49 at the end of the month, and you’ve inspired me to start my own list. Best wishes to you for an amazing year.
Well thank you birthday buddy! Happy Birthday to you as well. I’d love to hear what you put on your list if you’d like to share.
You are definitely in a different stage of life than me and you know what’s right for you. I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband. That does leave so much on your plate. I’m so proud of you for doing all that you are. Keep up the good work and definitely take it easy as you can. Sending you lots of love Gay!!
Hi, Marla! My 45th year is coming up in March. I recently quit my job of nearly two years to come back to SAHM. #covidsucks I have plans to put this ship back in order first; the 8th grader, sophomore & college freshman have been struggling. (Hubs is doing just fine with his new job.) Mama to the rescue, even though they prob won’t like it. LOL
As you see, today is Jan. 2, 2021, I am catching up on things I just got to skim over while working a 9-5. I have goals to set for my 45th and the count down…count up? to 50th. I look forward to being along for the ride for your 50th.
Two things I want to do in this new month, new year are: 1. finish Kid #2’s room 2. begin the BibleProject read thru the bible in a year plan. I’ve already gotten started on both!
Jaime,
Thank you for sharing this with me. Sounds like you’ve made some changes in your life, ones that I hope you feel super positive about. It can’t be easy switching from a full time job to being home full time. Kids are definitely a full time job even if they’re not babies. I have three that have left the nest and still take a lot of mental effort and time helping them. You’re going to do a fabulous job. Setting goals for myself has been really important to me because I didn’t allow myself that when the kids were little. There’s plenty of life ahead and I want to do stuff!! I love the goals you’ve set for yourself. Keep me posted!
