081: Make Room for Growth

Have you outgrown your pot?

Are your roots swirling around without any where to go?

Do you feel stuck?

Maybe it’s time to make a change.

Maybe it’s time to get out of that comfort zone and give yourself room to grow.

Maybe that scares you.

That’s ok, every person who has ever lived has been scared to try something new.

Maybe you can decide to interpret that feeling of being scared as a feeling of excitement and do the new thing anyway.

Have you ever taken a plant out of a pot and noticed how tightly wound up the roots are?

Do you know what I’m talking about?  Have you seen this?

The dirt seems to have been replaced with thicker white roots that have twisted around and around in circles.

Maybe you’ve bought a plant at a nursery and when you went to take it out of the pot to plant it, that’s what you found.

That plant has been in its pot too long.

The pot’s too small!

It may look ok from the top and it doesn’t seem to be having a problem…

But the truth is, it can’t stay that way forever.

It will eventually start to show that something is wrong.

The leaves may wilt.

The water will run right through the pot and out the holes at the bottom.

It may stop flowering.

The leaves may turn brown.

The plant will try to give you clues because the plant can’t help itself.

If you’re not paying attention, you may catch it too late and you’ll lose the plant.

The same thing can happen to us if we get too comfortable in our “pots”.

We have to get used to the idea that if we are to grow and become all that we can become, we need to be transplanted…taken out of our comfort zone and put into a bigger pot.

At first, it feels uncomfortable, too much unknown space that you’re not quite sure how to fill.

If you look at it like what you’d do for your plant that needs room to grow, you’ll need to help it along with extra nurturing and care.

You’ll need more attention and patience as you adapt to your new space.

Maybe you’ll need to feed yourself better.

Maybe you’ll need to stretch and move.

Perhaps you’ll need a nap!

What I know for sure is that YOU know what YOU need, so go directly to the source.

Ask yourself what you need and give yourself that.

Now, don’t expect that you’ll begin flowering right away!

You’re going to need to give yourself time.

You’re going to need to learn to do things differently.

You may need some extra support from those who have gone before you.

Look for what gives you reassurance and get more of that.

I hope you can do that for yourself most of the time.

Then, when others show up to support you, it’s like the whip cream on the top!!!  You don’t really need it but it sure is nice!

Sometimes we’re repotted into a bigger uncomfortable pot because of situations we wouldn’t have chosen.

That’s why it’s important to know how to use self-love all the time.

If you’re not good at that, perhaps my Camp Connection workshop is something you could sign up for to get you started!  It’s really good!

You’ll find a link for that in the shownotes or go to https://hunkeedori.com/CCCourse

It’s a really good way to strengthen your roots so you’re more prepared for WHEN the hard times show up in life.

If we don’t catch the clues in our own lives, when we’re getting too comfortable, we may end up getting uprooted and it can be really hard to find our way again.

That’s what happens to a lot of us during the changes that happen naturally during our lives.

We all go through new seasons of life.

One that I’m going through is moving from raising kids to the dreaded “Empty Nest”.

I have been caught off guard during other seasons of transition and learned the hard way that if I don’t love and care for myself during all seasons of life, those transitions are even harder.

That’s why I have created systems that support me and help me to care for what I need so I can show up as my best self.

One of the new ways I’m teaching a few of these systems is in a mini-workshop that I put together.  It’s called “3 Tips to Reconnect to You.”

It’s geared towards all my soon to be empty-nesters out there BUT really, it can apply to anyone who is going through a season of life change and would like some tips on how to deal with it better.

If you’re feeling a little lost.

If you’re feeling like you’ve lost the purpose you used to feel in your life.

If you don’t remember who you are or what used to be important to you.

If you’re having a hard time feeling happy and motivated to get going every day.

If you can’t answer the question…What do YOU want?

This is the training for you!

I’ll walk you through 3 Tips to Reconnect to YOU.

I’ll help you begin the process of discovering who you are and what you want in this next season of life.  I believe that everything you need to move forward is inside you.  I’ll show you how to access it!

Here’s the best news…it’s totally FREE!

Go to Hunkeedori.com/Empty to get the workshop sent to you.

It’s a short video that I’ve filled with some my top tips of making the connection with the most important person in all of these big changes….YOU.

Thanks for joining me here today and remember:

I see you.  I understand how hard you’re trying, and I’d like to help however I can.

Have a wonderful day and I’ll see you back here next week.
