During the month of June, I have decided to dedicate my podcast to one of the pillars that holds up the systems of Connection that I teach. This month’s focus is on the pillar of TIME. Each podcast in June, I’ll be talking about a way that we can reconnect to our time. We will cover ways to pay attention to TIME in a way that honors who we truly ARE and not who we’re trying to BE for anyone else.
I believe, that when we prioritize the way we spend our time, we not only make time to do the things that are most important to us, it creates an environment within us so we actually have more time to spend loving others.
That’s a big piece of becoming less burdened isn’t it?
Feeling more connected to how we use our time instead of letting time be the boss.
I get to choose how I spend my time and so do you.
I know you keep hearing that it’s important to put yourself first.
Great concept, hard to do, actually.
How do you get a minute to put yourself first when it feels like everyone has a long list of what they need to do and it always includes your help in some way?
Believe it or not, I’ve actually found a way to put myself first without removing myself from the planet and it was easier than I thought it could be.
Putting yourself first every day can actually be accomplished as easily as not opening your electronic devices for one hour after you wake up every day.
I’ll wait while the gasping settles down.
This is a real thing that can be done.
You know how I know??? I do it almost every morning.
Notice I said almost, I’m not perfect at this by any stretch of the imagination, but I am trying.
Where is it written that you have to pick up your phone, or open your laptop as soon as you wake up? You don’t have to look at emails before your eyes are even adjusted to the light.
#1: It’s not good for your eyes
#2: It’s not good for your brain and
#3: It’s not good for you period.
Did you know that when you pick up your electronics device first thing in the morning, you are starting off your day in a way that is more likely to increase stress and leave you feeling overwhelmed???
That is not the way I envision starting off my day. I’m the overburdened no more lady after all.
I don’t think you do either.
I know that’s not your intention when you pick up your phone.
In case you thought I got off track, this relates to putting yourself first.
It really does.
You put yourself first by choosing to do what is important to YOU before you allow others’ opinions, requests, and advertisements into your mind, which takes away the clarity you could have without all that other junk in there.
Instead of starting your day proactively focusing on your own goals, you’re being forced to react to other people’s stuff.
This is one way I’ve decided that I can truly put myself first.
Why would I want to begin my day by letting hundreds of people into my room or office and let them all start yelling at me what’s most important to them?
That’s what I’m doing when I open up email or texts or Instagram or Facebook or any of the thousands of news apps etc….
I choose to begin my day, every day, by deciding what I want to do most BEFORE I allow others to start asking me for their attention.
I know…..
It’s not an easy thing to do.
It’s a habit.
It really is.
But it’s a BAD habit and we’ve got to stop it!
I’m starting a challenge in just a few weeks where we are going to tackle this habit together.
I have created 5-day’s worth of information and encouragement where we are going to help each other put ourselves first.
You can do this. I can do better at this. WE can do this together!
Is there a better way to start off the summer than changing a really bad habit that is going to help us to have a better life? I say NO! We are going to beat this once and for all!!! Who’s with me?
My Summer Jumpstart Challenge for 2022 is called “One Hour for Me!”
It’s a 5-day challenge where we will meet online every day for 5 days and learn the WHY, the WHAT and the HOW of giving yourself the first hour of your day.
It’s free, it begins on June 20th, 2022 and you can register by going to the show notes, www.hunkeedori.com/oneforme or just going to hunkeedori.com
I will send you a link where you can join us LIVE every day in the “One Hour for Me!” Facebook Group at 10am MT. If you can’t make it live, you can watch it later since you’ll have access to the group. It would be more fun and make a bigger impact on you if you can join us LIVE because you’ll be able to ask questions and we can have an actual discussion together for a while. I strongly suggest you try to make it live if at all possible. But, I hope you’ll register any way that you can be a part of it.
I’m really excited for this challenge and I hope you see the benefits as well. I’ll be giving you not only reasons to stop looking at your phone as soon as you wake up (some of those reasons blew my mind when I learned about them!) but I’ll also be helping you come up with what you can do instead. That’s a big deal because you can’t change a habit unless you replace it with something else and I’ve got a lot of great things that you are going to look forward to MORE than starting your day by looking at what your high school friend did last week.
Don’t forget to register for the challenge. I’ll leave the link in the show notes which makes it super easy to click but if you’d rather, just go to www.hunkeedori.com/oneforme
Thanks for joining me here today.
I see you. I understand how hard you’re trying, and I’d like to help however I can.
Have a wonderful day and I’ll see you back here next week.
